Chapter Membership

Discover Break Away’s approach to community work with the foundational pieces of our curriculum — the Community Collaborator Continuum and the 9 Components of Quality Community Engagement.

Together, we work to invest in mutually-beneficial relationships with communities, develop student leadership, and create experiential learning opportunities around important social justice topics.

Break Away and our Chapter school network can offer you the resources, relationships, analysis, and support to grow or sustain your program — whether your program is just getting started or has been thriving for 20 years.

What Chapters Are Saying

“Being part of a community of educators and administrators who “get it” can't be understated. The challenges of running alternative break programs are so unique and being able to have this space to reflect and problem solve with Break Away is so beneficial.”

“I am one person in one office. Break Away gives me the leverage of hundreds of voices from a national platform to make change on my campus.”

“We invest in Break Away membership because it offers our students an opportunity to connect with the bigger picture of “the Movement.” I think it can be very easy to get wrapped up in our own bubble, but whenever we connect to Break Away (and the many resources), we remember how big the Movement is and we feel ties to our peers across the country.”
