Staff Development

Staff Track at the summer ABCS provides an opportunity for professionals working in community engagement to connect with peers, while engaging in the same high-quality workshops you expect from the ABCS.

Staff Track provides professional staff and graduate assistants:

  • an opportunity for strategic planning — looking toward the upcoming academic year and beyond

  • networking and coalition building opportunities with other community engagement professionals

  • space to share promising practices with other institutions

For the fall Staff Development Summit, Break Away will partner with a campus to host a 3-day event for campus and nonprofit staff. Sessions are led by the host campus, Break Away staff, and outside authorities on subjects of interest.

Past summits have included sessions on mental health and burnout, identity-based supervision, trauma-informed programming practices, and community partnership development.
